AI Prompts and Instructions for Your Professional Bio

General Description of the Process

You’ll upload your resume to Copilot and ask it to write your first draft. You’ll then revise the draft before sharing it with your group.

Be sure to save the responses AI gives you. It’s your guarantee if any issues about how you used the tool come up.

  1. Why Copilot & your VT Login?

You will upload your resume for this activity. That means you are uploading very personal information—and that info needs to stay private!

Virginia Tech has an agreement with Microsoft that protects your personal information and will NOT save your info in the training database.

Save your resume as a PDF so that you can upload it to Copilot.
  2. Open the Copilot Prompt for Your Bio.
  3. Open Copilot in your web browser and log into the tool using your VT.EDU username and password.
  4. Copy the prompt from the Copilot Prompt PDF and paste it into the question area on Copilot.
  5. Click the Upload button in the Copilot question area, and upload the PDF draft of your resume.
  6. Click the Send button in Copilot and wait for the response. Here’s an example response to a resume from Career Services.
  7. Click the Export button to save your response as a PDF. Save it in case I ask for it later.
  8. Go back to the Introduce Yourself (Project Groups Discussion), and follow the rest of the instructions and the advice from Copilot to revise and submit your bio.
