Your Technical Description provides a specific explanation of a item related to food in the form of a fact or info sheet. You will include specific details and relevant illustrations that describe what the item is, how it works, and its principal parts. You will connect your technical description to your instructions project.
Length
The length of your description depends upon the concept that you explain and the examples that you include. Aim for at least one-page technical description, including the photos or images you choose.
Checklist Requirements
You are focusing on describing an object that relates to food in the form of a fact or info sheet. Your Full Draft Submission should meet the criteria below:
- Has a title that indicates the nature and scope of the description clearly (p. 563).
- Introduces the description by answering the following questions (all from p. 564 of Markel & Selber):
- What is the object?
- What is the function of the object?
- What does the object look like?
- How does the object work?
- What are the principal parts of the object?
- Provides detailed information in part-by-part order (pp. 563–566).
- Includes photos or images to illustrate the various parts of the object, including close-ups to show detail.
- Concludes by summarizing the major points of the object (p. 566).
