Goals
- Collaborate with classmates in planning, researching, writing, revising, and presenting information. [CLO 5]
- Analyze your draft and find ways to improve your project using strategies related to technical writing [CLO 1–7]
The Task
What I Want You to Do
Post all or a portion of the first version you created of your Technical Description, and ask for specific feedback from your group members. You will also read and respond to the work of the other students in your group. Post your draft by Thursday so that others in your group have time to provide feedback.
Why I Want You to Do It
The goal of these weekly feedback discussions is learn how to give and take advice that will improve your writing. See the Feedback Discussions Instructions for more information.
How You Do It
- Choose something specific in or about your Technical Description Draft that you need help with or want advice on. Here are some example scenarios:
- You want to know if someone else understands the process you are describing.
- You wonder if the images you included illustrate the steps of the process or the features of the object.
- You need help deciding on the best medium to use or how to use it.
- Write a post that explains the kind of feedback that you want and asks your group members for specific help. Include the draft you have created (for instance, the video footage you shot).
- Read over your post to make sure it’s clear, and make any changes you need to make sure your group understands your message.
- Post your reply.
- While you wait for responses from your group, read the posts that others have posted and respond to the questions of at least two people. Ideally, respond to all group members.
- Once you receive feedback, take the feedback from your group into account as you revise your work for submission next week.
Obtaining the Points for Your Work
You track and grade your own work in this course. Each week, be sure to do the following::
- Track your work in your Weekly Work Log.
- Claim points for sharing the first version of your description and giving your group members feedback when you complete the weekly self-assessment in Canvas.
